Do I need to block this hat?

Can I skip the cloud appliqué?
Yes, the hat stands on its own without it. The cloud is sewn on separately, so it never affects the hat's structure.
Why does Row 12 use the back loop only?
Working the back loop only creates a fold line for the brim. It is the one round in the body that differs from the rest.
How do I keep my increases from getting lost?
Count stitches at the end of every round through Row 11, and again through the brim increase rows. A stitch marker at the round start makes each count easier to check.
How is the cloud made?
It starts with a chain of 7, then single crochets back across. Bumps are built up with a mix of single, half double, and double crochets before the piece is fastened off and sewn to the hat.
