About This Pattern
This goose is a small plush toy. It comes together from two spiral parts. The head holds the bill and both eyes. The body holds the tail and two little feet. It fits into one quiet evening. You might need a second evening for stuffing and assembly. You need plush yarn in a main color, plus orange and white. Ten rounds shape the body. Four rounds shape the head. Steady tension keeps the stuffing hidden inside.

Crochet goose amigurumi plush toy pattern
Head
Begin with main color (gray or yellow).
- Round 1MR, 6 sc into ring. Pull ring closed. (6)
- Round 2Inc in each st around. (12)
- Round 3(sc, inc) × 3, then work a Shell into the next st in white yarn (this forms the first eye) , sc, sc, inc, sc, then work a Shell into the next st in white yarn (this forms the second eye) , sc. (18)
Note: After completing Rnd 3, place your 8 mm safety eyes at the center of each Shell. The Shell stitches frame each eye beautifully.
Switch to orange yarn for Round 4.
- Round 4(2 sc, inc) × 6. (24) Join with sl st. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail for shaping.Forming the bill: Fold the finished head in half. Using the long yarn tail, work a few stitches on each side of the fold to pinch and define the bill shape. Refer to project photos for placement guidance.
Body
Begin with main color (gray or yellow).
- Round 1MR, 6 sc into ring. Pull ring closed. (6)
- Round 2Inc in each st around. (12)
- Round 3sc, tail (work 3 ch, then sl st back into the base of the first ch) , 2 sc, inc, sc, foot (switch to orange yarn: ch 7, sl st into the 3rd ch from hook, work 2 hdc + ch 2 + sl st all into the same ch, then sl st across the remaining 4 ch back to the base st, sl st into base st) , 2 sc, inc, 2 sc, foot (repeat foot as above in orange) , sc, inc. (15)
- Round 415 sc. (15)
- Round 5(3 sc, dec) × 3. (12)
- Round 612 sc. (12)
- Round 7(2 sc, dec) × 3. (9)
- Round 84 sc, wing (ch 4, sl st into 2nd ch from hook, sc into next ch, hdc into next ch, sl st back into base st) , 5 sc, wing (repeat wing as above) . (9)Add your final fiberfill now — the body should feel firm but still slightly squishy.
- Round 9(sc, dec) × 3. (6)
- Round 106 sc. (6) Join with sl st. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail . Close the opening using the yarn tail and your needle. Then ch 4 with the remaining tail. Join this chain to the underside of the head with a sl st, then work 3 sl st back down the chain toward the body, and finish with a sl st into the base of the neck. This chain creates the neck connection.
Minutes per piece
- Whole Project about two to three hours, because the head and body are both small and fast-working with plush yarn
- Assembly & Finishing about ten to fifteen minutes
Joining up
- Step 1 Complete the Head and Body separately as instructed above.
- Step 2 Shape the bill on the Head by folding and stitching as noted in the Head instructions.
- Step 3 Connect the Body to the Head using the 4-chain neck as described at the end of Round 10 of the Body.
- Step 4 Sl st along the chain and into the head to secure the connection firmly — give it a gentle tug to make sure it holds.
- Step 5 Thread any remaining yarn tails onto your tapestry needle and weave in all ends securely.
Small notes
- Mark the start of each round; both parts spiral continuously.
- Keep stitches tight so stuffing never shows through the fabric.
- This pattern is written in US crochet terminology.
- Gauge is not critical for this project, but your fabric should be tight enough that stuffing does not show through.
- Stuff as you go — add fiberfill gradually as the pieces grow; do not wait until the end.
- Finished size: using plush yarn at 100g / 120m with a 3.75 mm hook, the goose stands approximately 4–5 inches tall. A bulkier plush yarn or a looser tension will produce a larger result.
- Keep your tension firm. Plush yarn has a lot of loft, and loose tension will let the fiberfill peek through. If you can see white stuffing between your stitches, go down half a hook size.
- Stuff the body before Round 9, not after. Once the opening narrows past 6 stitches, it becomes difficult to add fiberfill without distorting the shape. Stuff to about 80% fullness — the plush yarn compresses slightly after handling.
- When shaping the bill, less is more. One or two firm stitches on each side of the fold is all you need. Over-sewing can flatten the bill rather than define it. Check the shape from the front before you tie off.
- the neck chain, hide your joining sl st under the head. Position the chain attachment point at the very center of the head's base, not toward the front or back — this keeps the goose sitting upright and symmetrical.
Little questions
What skill level is this crochet goose pattern?
This pattern is suitable for beginners who are comfortable working in a continuous spiral and have made at least one or two basic amigurumi shapes before. The Shell stitch for the eyes and the decorative feet and wings may look complex, but each is worked over just a few stitches. Take it one round at a time and you'll find it very manageable.
How long does it take to crochet this goose?
Most makers complete this goose in two to three hours, depending on their speed and experience. The head and body are both small and fast-working, especially with plush yarn. Assembly and finishing add only another ten to fifteen minutes.
How large is the finished goose?
The finished size depends on your yarn weight and tension, but using plush yarn at 100g / 120m with a 3.75 mm hook, the goose stands approximately 4–5 inches tall. Using a bulkier plush yarn or a looser tension will produce a larger result.
Can I sell items made from this pattern?
Finished goose toys made from this pattern are perfectly suited for gifting or selling at craft fairs and online shops. Each handmade piece is unique, and plush yarn gives the finished toy a premium, irresistible feel that shoppers love.
