About This Pattern
This little lamb comes together in one evening at the table. The body, legs, and head are worked as one piece, so there is less sewing after. Novelty yarn gives the fleece texture, and main color yarn shapes the arms and face. It needs a quiet hour for the head, some patience for two eye cinches, and a small pile of stuffing close at hand.

Optional Ruff Collar
Foundation: Chain a number of stitches equal to the neck circumference, plus 1 turning chain. (Sample: 20 ch + 1 ch = 21 total.)
- Row 1Starting from the 2nd ch from hook, work 3 sc in each ch across. (20 groups)Straighten the ruffles evenly and seam the short ends of the collar together at the back.
Body
Switch to novelty yarn. Position both legs so the toes angle toward each other (slightly pigeon-toed). Chain 2 and join to the first leg.
- Round 89 sc across second leg, 2 sc across one side of ch-2, 9 sc across first leg, 2 sc across opposite side of ch-2. (22)
The piece faces away from you as you work — the back side is toward you throughout the body.
Rnd 9 shapes the rounded tummy. All increases fall at the front of the piece.
- Round 97 sc, 3 sc in next st, inc, 2 sc, inc, 3 sc in next st, 6 sc, inc, 2 sc. (29)
- Round 10inc, 28 sc. (30)
- Rounds 11–1230 sc. (30)
At the end of Rnd 12, align the working yarn to the center back before continuing.

- Round 1424 sc. (24)
- Round 15(4 sc, dec) ×4. (20)
- Round 16(4 sc, dec, 4 sc) ×2. (18)Rnd 17 joins the arms. They sit at the sides of the body. If needed, adjust where your round begins and ends so the arms land symmetrically.
- Round 173 sc, work 3 sc joining through the first arm, 6 sc, work 3 sc joining through the second arm, 3 sc. (18)Stuff the body now, paying special attention to the tummy — it should feel full and rounded.

- Round 30(1 sc, dec) ×6. (12)

Before the first stitch
- Check your novelty yarn amount. A small amount goes far, but test a swatch first.
- Read the note on continuous spiral rounds. No joining or turning unless told.
- Set out both yarn colors before starting. The color change happens partway through the head.
Minutes per piece
- Arms and legs about 30 minutes, because each piece is short but doubled
- Legs, body, and head as one piece about 2 hours, because it spans 10 to 11 rounds with a color change
Other yarns that work
- Cotton, worsted weight Less drape than plush yarn. Stitches show more, so tension must stay even.
- Acrylic chenille, bulky weight A larger finished lamb. Size up the hook and use less stuffing overall.
Where it ends up
- A shelf companion for a child's room, paired with other small amigurumi animals.
- A soft toy for a diaper bag, small enough to tuck into a side pocket.
- A gift topper tied to a wrapped present with matching ribbon.
Joining up
- Step 1 Attach the ears. Sew each ear to the side of the head, positioning them at the yarn color change line where the main yarn meets the novelty yarn. Use the yarn tail and a whipstitch. Tack each ear with an additional stitch to hold it angled downward.
- Step 2 Eye Cinch 1. Thread a needle with matching yarn. Insert from the front at the base of the neck and bring out at the lower outer edge of the first eye — the thread should rest beneath the eye. Re-insert at the lower inner edge of the same eye and bring the needle out approximately 1 stitch from the starting point. Pull firmly while pressing the eye inward with your fingertip to redistribute the stuffing. Repeat for the second eye. You may repeat this cinch a second time for a deeper set.
- Step 3 Eye Cinch 2. With thread at the bottom, insert the needle at the starting point and bring out at the lower inner edge of the first eye. Re-insert at the lower inner edge of the second eye. Bring out approximately 1 stitch from the starting point. Pull gently. Repeat if desired.
- Step 4 Embroider the face. Using black cotton thread, stitch small arrow shapes at the inner corners of the eyes, eyebrows above each eye, and white highlights on the eyes. Embroider the nose with two diagonal stitches. Add a short vertical dividing line below the nose. Optionally layer parallel pink stitches over the nose and apply pink blush to the cheeks.
- Step 5 Add the collar. Slip the ruff collar around the neck and adjust the gathers evenly before securing the seam at the back.
- Step 6 Fluff if desired. Lightly brush the body and the top of the head with a pet slicker brush or a strip of velcro to raise the pile of the novelty yarn. If any gaps open during brushing, close them with a small stitch of novelty yarn.
- Step 7 Weave in all remaining ends.
Small notes
- This pattern is written in US crochet terminology. All pieces are worked in continuous spiral rounds unless otherwise noted — do not join or turn unless specifically instructed.
- Gauge is not critical for this project; consistent, tight tension is more important to prevent gaps in the fabric and keep stuffing from showing. If you can see light through your fabric when you hold it up, go down a hook size or slow down your tension.
- The legs, body, and head are worked as one continuous piece. The arms are made separately and joined at Rnd 17 of the body.
- Insert safety eyes before completing the decreases that close the head — see the note at Rnd 28 for exact placement.
- When working with novelty yarn, periodically pull and tighten your working yarn to keep the pile or curls from tangling. When working decreases in novelty yarn, pull snugly to close any gaps.
- Stuff as you go on the body. Once you close Rnd 18, it becomes difficult to add more stuffing to the tummy. Pack the belly and lower body firmly before working the final decrease round, and add a small pinch to the neck right before you transition to the head section.
Little questions
Can I skip the novelty yarn?
Yes, work the whole lamb in main color yarn. The fleece texture will be smoother, not curly, but the shape stays the same.
Why does the pattern use two eye cinches?
Cinching pulls the eyes slightly inward for a rounder, sleepier look. It uses matching thread, not the main yarn, so the stitches stay hidden.
Is the ruff collar necessary?
No, it is marked optional. Skip it if you want a simpler neckline, or add it for extra texture around the throat.
How much stuffing will I need?
The pattern does not give an exact amount, only polyfill or fiberfill as needed. Stuff firmly but check tension first, since loose stitches show gaps.
