About This Pattern
This butterfly is a small companion piece. It has a head, a body, two wings, and small arms. I see it fitting into one quiet evening, maybe two. It asks for four colors of milk cotton yarn, a 3 mm hook, and a little patience for the wing shaping. Safety eyes and embroidery thread bring the face to life. Nothing about it is rushed. Finishing

Before the first stitch

Small notes

Little questions
Can I use only one color instead of four?
Yes, one color works fine for the whole butterfly. The four colors here just separate the wings from the body. Use whatever contrast you like.
Do I need safety eyes, or can I embroider them?
Safety eyes give a cleaner, more secure finish. If you prefer, embroider the eyes with black thread instead. Either way, place them where Round 7-8 calls for them.
How much yarn do I actually need?
The pattern does not give exact yardage, so work from a small ball of each color. Milk cotton goes a long way on a project this size. Keep leftovers for future amigurumi.
Why does the wing round count matter so much?
The wings are shaped through single rounds with specific increases, like 2sc, inc repeated three times. Skipping or miscounting throws off the wing shape. Count stitches after each round to stay on track.
