About This Pattern
This teddy bear starts as two ovals: pink legs, a white muzzle. Each piece works in single crochet, round by round, building the shape. It sits well on a shelf or in small hands. The pattern uses one skein of main color yarn. Partial skeins of white and pink round out the details. Safety eyes and fiberfill finish the form. Before the first stitch
- Check you have one skein of the main color yarn.
- Keep partial skeins of white and pink on hand.
- Have both hooks ready: 4.0 mm and 2.5 mm for the nose.
Minutes per piece
- Legs and muzzle bases about 1 hour because each oval starts from a short chain and shapes over a few rounds.
- Body through round twenty and face assembly about 3 to 4 hours because rounds run past R20, with careful stuffing and eye placement.
Other yarns that work
- DK weight cotton-acrylic blend Gives a smoother, firmer stitch definition. The finished bear comes out slightly smaller than with the baby-weight original.
- Worsted weight acrylic yarn Adds bulk and a rounder shape. Move up to a 4.5 mm hook and use a bit more stuffing.

Small notes
- Place the 12 mm safety eyes before you close and stuff the head. Fix them early, since they cannot move once set.

Little questions
Why does the pattern start with a chain instead of a magic ring?
The legs and muzzle begin as ovals, not circles. Starting from a short chain of 5 or 7 stitches gives that oval base. Working both sides of the chain shapes the flat bottom neatly.
Why do I need two hook sizes?
The 4.0 mm hook works the main body pieces at the right tension. The 2.5 mm hook tightens the small nose piece so no stuffing shows through.
What are the safety eyes for, and do I need exactly 12 mm?
The pattern calls for 12 mm safety eyes for the finished proportions. Smaller eyes would change the bear's expression. Fix them in place before you close and stuff the head.
Can I use a different yarn brand for the nose and face details?
The original uses YarnArt Jeans for the nose, eyebrows, and eye whites. Any thin, smooth yarn in matching colors works the same way. Keep it fine enough for clean embroidery lines.
