About This Pattern
This minion comes together in small, countable pieces. Boots, hands, straps, pockets, overalls — each one is its own short sit. It suits a evening when I want something finished, not something open-ended. Black boots start flat, then grow round in a spiral. Blue overalls need patience with two little pockets. Yellow hands are quick, worked straight through without shaping. It wants yarn in three colors, a small hook, and a quiet hour at the table.

Before the first stitch
- Check I have black, blue, and yellow yarn before starting.
- Read through the hand assembly rounds first — the shaping jumps fast.
- Count my starting chain twice; the boot begins from only seven stitches.
Minutes per piece
- Boots and legs about 45 minutes, because the round count climbs quickly after the fourth row
- Overalls and pockets about 1 hour, because the front pocket shaping needs careful turning
Other yarns that work
- Acrylic worsted weight Holds its shape well and keeps stitches crisp for small amigurumi parts.
- Cotton worsted weight Gives firmer stuffing support but needs a slightly larger hook for easier tension.
Where it ends up
- A shelf toy that sits well next to other amigurumi figures.
- A small gift for a child who likes bright, round shapes.
- A desk companion for someone who collects tiny crocheted characters.
Small notes
- Use a hook small enough to keep stitches tight; this toy needs firm fabric, not loose loops.
- Mark the start of each round on the boots. The spiral shaping is easy to lose without one.
- Fasten off and leave long ends where the pattern says. I use those tails for sewing, not extra yarn.
Little questions
Why does the boot start with only seven chains?
The small chain keeps the sole narrow and tidy. It grows fast once the spiral rounds begin. I trust the count even when it looks too small.
Do I need stitch markers for every round?
Not every round, but I use one for the boots. The jump from twelve to thirty-six stitches is easy to miscount otherwise.
Can I make the front pocket a different color?
Yes, the pocket is a separate small piece. Any contrasting yarn works without changing the stitch counts.
Why do some parts say to leave a long end?
That tail is for sewing the piece onto the body later. I always leave it longer than I think I need.
